Wednesday 25th June saw Claverdon Rugby Club host our first primary schools festival for many years. Over 50 children from 5 local primary schools came along and enjoyed a Rugby MegaFest. From kids who had played before to brand new participants, the format made sure everyone was involved throughout. The Claverdon Coaching team were excellent on the day, running fun games and team challenges before refereeing a series of round-robin tag rugby matches.
Off the pitch, teachers and parents enjoyed the hospitality of the club in beautiful summer sunshine, keeping the applause coming and the bar busy!
The event was made possible by some special people who the club would like to thank. George Redwood from Claverdon Primary and Claverdon 1st team who organised the event, the heads and teachers from Claverdon, Henley Primary, Ferncumbe, Mappleborough Green and St Marys, Henley for entering teams, the parents who brought the kids down and supported, our Mini & Junior coaches and the players who took time off work to be with us on the day, and of course all the girls and boys who made it such a positive and fun day!
Rugby for kids from age 5 through to 16 takes place at Claverdon Rugby Club every Sunday from September to the end of April. New players are always welcome, no matter if they have played before or not. The emphasis is always on friendship and fun and helping kids be physically active with an equally welcoming time for parents. We have our fun Summer Sizzler sessions on Thursdays 24thJuly, 7th & 21st August at 6.30pm too for anyone wanting to give it a try. Everyone is welcome.
