Claverdon RFC

3 - 24

(HT 0-0)

Barkers Butts RFC
Despite heavy rain raising doubts over a waterlogged pitch, Claverdon RFC's home tie against Barkers Butts went ahead on Saturday. In wet and muddy conditions, Claverdon started the sharper side, settling quickly and taking a 3–0 lead from an early penalty. For much of the first half the contest was evenly matched, with both teams showing plenty of commitment.
As the half progressed, Barkers’ pack began to assert themselves, and their pressure told just before the break when they drove over for a converted try, going into half time 3-7 in front.
The second half saw Claverdon largely on the defensive, pinned in their own territory as Barkers grew into the game. Their forward dominance and control of the conditions allowed them to shut down Claverdon’s attacking chances while building pressure.
Barkers added three more tries to pull away, securing a 3–24 win. Claverdon fought hard throughout, but Barkers’ physicality and composure in difficult conditions ultimately proved the difference.
