On a day that should have been the start of the season the club organised an Inter-Club Sevens touch rugby in line with the latest guidance from the RFU. With competative rugby seemingly a long way off, the Lions decided to run the inaugral Stanley Kirk Burrell trophy on Saturday.
The great weather allowed the club to put all the social distancing plans into action that the committee have been working so hard to achieve over the last few weeks. This safely accommodated the many supporters who turned up to see an exhibition in world class rugby skills.
After 14 frantic games, which started off with a friendly feel, but soon got competitive, one of the teams was named the winner.
Although it is not rugby as we know and love it yet, this was a great substitute, and an excellent day was had by all.
